This is potato human. He, along the farm crew really enjoyed the sunshine out at the farm this week. It was certainly delightful out there.
On Wednesday, a group from volunteers from the Sustainability Center helped out with harvest and dug potatoes for us. The Sustainability Center has brought volunteers out to the farm through a series of events called “Get Dirty” this fall.
This weeks harvest includes a variety of potatoes, carrots, onions, leeks, garlic, and pumpkins. Maybe try out this recipe for potato leek soup (http://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/robert-irvine/potato-leek-soup-recipe/index.html) or another delicious stew? It’s getting chilly at night, so I have been loving the possibilities for a warm and hearty meal with veggies from the farm.
With the cold weather, also comes the end of the season. We have enough left for one more share. A number of things are still in the ground and growing so we are going to skip next week (Oct. 24) and harvest everything else the following. The final share will be Oct. 31.
